Job Title: Senior Teacher

Location: Kings Hall College, Manchester (classroom based)

Reports to: Academic Director

Salary: £26,000 per annum

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

 

Overall Responsibilities

In line with the Mission, Vision and Goals of Kings Hall College, as the Senior Teacher you will assist the Academic Director in supporting the academic programme, teaching English to international students, and supporting other teachers. The role also includes administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the academic department.

 

Key Responsibilities

Teaching

  • Be at the college in time to prepare lessons and any additional materials prior to class.
  • Teach classes using the Kings Hall curriculum and other appropriate materials as required.
  • Ensure students receive the maximum benefit from their course.
  • Keep accurate Records of Work and attendance documents.
  • Give out and correct homework on a regular basis.
  • Create and mark weekly test papers and accurately record results.
  • Write reports for sponsored and departing students.
  • Contribute towards developing resources to supplement course materials.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively and report discipline problems to the Academic Director.
  • Liaise with the Academic Director regarding student progress and welfare.
  • Be observed teaching as part of your Professional Development.

 

Senior Teacher

  • Collaborate with the Academic Director to ensure smooth academic programme operations.
  • Help to establish a positive working environment within the academic team.
  • Guide teachers in their use of the Kings Hall curriculum.
  • Support the team of teachers so they complete their administrative duties on time.
  • Organise and lead teacher training workshops/CPD sessions when required.
  • Observe teachers to support professional development.
  • Encourage ongoing professional development among teachers.
  • Assist with the placement testing and induction of new students.

 

General Duties (All Staff)

  • Remain compliant with Safeguarding procedures.
  • Ensure that all health and safety policies are implemented and monitored.
  • Adhere to British Council criteria and work towards areas of strength.
  • Ensure the college is well presented and kept tidy.
  • Attend meetings as requested by the Management Team.
  • Assist with social activities as and when required to do so.
  • Represent Kings Hall College to clients in a professional manner.
