Job Title: Finance & HR Officer 

Location: Kings Hall College, Manchester (office based)

Reports to: Operations Director

Salary: Competitive

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

 

Job Purpose

The Finance & HR Officer will be responsible for maintaining the financial health of the college and ensuring HR policies and procedures are effectively implemented. This role combines bookkeeping and payroll responsibilities with HR support functions, including recruitment, onboarding, compliance, and employee relations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Finance Duties 

  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including processing invoices, expenses, and receipts.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers using accounting software.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, reports, and bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in preparing year-end accounts and liaise with external accountants/auditors.
  • Manage tuition fee payments, refunds, and student financial records in coordination with the Enrolment & Admissions officers.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded and stored securely according to college procedures.

 

HR Duties 

  • Support recruitment processes including drafting job descriptions, advertising roles, scheduling interviews, and processing offers.
  • Coordinate new starter documentation, contracts, DBS checks, and right-to-work verification.
  • Maintain and update employee records, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
  • Assist in implementing HR policies and procedures and ensure staff handbook is up to date.
  • Track staff absences, holidays, and leave requests.
  • Provide administrative support for performance reviews and training records.
  • Assist the Operations Director in handling employee relations matters and wellbeing initiatives.
